- Description
Fotostat. this is one of the finest maps of the Atlantic Ocean showing the entire East Coast of the United States from New--Foundland to and including Venezuela.S.A. This map was printed in 1762 for Carinton Bowles London and was engraved by Thos Bowen. It will be noted that again the lower Peninsula of Florida has several well defined Canals from the Gulf to the Atlantic. it is therefor hard to accept that the old cartographers put these waterways on from imagination, because the maps of 1710 and 1792 shows them. The three maps referred to above were made by as many different cartographers. This reproduction is presented by Mr. Barend Beek to Mrs. Basil M. Boykin, President of the Miami Beach Woman's Club under date of November 14, 1927. The original is in possession of Mr Beek.
