- Description
Reproduction of Johannes Janssonius' map. It is worth while noting the boundary of Florida in those days. California is pictured as an island and of the interior little was known except that it was supposed that various wild animals could be found there. Although this map is dated 1623 it does not show St. Augustine. This reproduction is made on Dutch watermarked paper and colored by hand. It is presented by Mr. Bared Beek of Miami Beach, to Mrs. Basil M Boykin, president of the Miami Beach Woman's Club on November 14, 1927.
